A Refined Two-Tone Classic Contemporary Kitchen

About This Project

This bespoke kitchen design balances classic shaker-style cabinetry with a sophisticated two-tone colour palette. The extensive layout relies on well-proportioned fitted kitchen elements, blending ample storage with generous preparation areas. A substantial central island anchors the room, creating a natural focal point that contrasts beautifully against the softer grey perimeter cabinets while providing seating and an under-mounted double sink.

The design effortlessly manages the large space by balancing scale with refined detailing. Symmetrical zoning around the cooking area features a large range cooker and bespoke mantle, backed by an antiqued mirror splashback that reflects natural light from the adjoining dark-framed glass doors. Integrated appliances, including a tall wine climate cabinet seamlessly built into the full-height storage, maintain the clean, uninterrupted lines essential to a custom kitchen.

Materials & Finishes

Soft-toned grey perimeter cabinetry is paired with a striking deep charcoal finish on the island, creating a distinct visual contrast. Light-toned, subtly veined worktops cover both areas, enhancing the bright atmosphere. Warm brass accents are carried consistently throughout the fitted kitchen, visible on the cup handles, matching knobs, the curved mixer tap, and the upholstered bar stools. A pale wood floor laid in a classic herringbone pattern adds natural texture, while layered lighting—including clear glass pendants and concealed warm LEDs—softens the overall aesthetic.

How We Worked

Our bespoke kitchen design approach focused on tailoring the space entirely to the room’s architectural dimensions and character. The deep charcoal finish was deliberately chosen to ground the substantial island, preventing it from overpowering the bright space while guiding the visual flow. By carefully selecting precise colour combinations and internal configurations, the layout maximises storage and effortlessly integrates specialist features, resulting in a cohesive environment that functions perfectly for daily living.
